The teaser for the 9th season of Ninjago is here (actually, it's already premiered in some countries), and I must say this has been the most fun and challenging bunch of Ninjago episodes to work on so far - so many exciting sound elements coming together here, all taking place in beautiful, captivating locations.
I've received a few nominations as a sound designer and foley artist this year as well, which is very humbling! It's quite exciting that some of the work you put down is yet again being recognized on such a high global level.
DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS, 2018
Outstanding Sound Editing, Animation - for LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (Season 2)
MUSIC+SOUND AWARDS, 2018
Best Sound Design: TV Programme - for Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu - The Hands of Time (Season 7)
Best Sound Design: TV Programme - for LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (Season 2)
It's such a pleasure to work with sound design and foley for this show, which took some big steps forward in this 8th season - better storytelling and character development, even better looking 3D animations etc. And it all takes place in really fun and captivating environments, which makes it so exciting and shifting to work with the Ninjago sound universe.
This coming season is called Sons Of Garmadon, and follows the LEGO Ninjago Movie which premiered last year.
I'm very excited to be one of the winners in this years Music+Sound Awards, in the category 'Best Sound Design - Television Programme'. This is the first win and second nomination me and my colleagues has received for the work we did on the first season of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, for which we also received an Emmy Award nomination earlier this year.
The fact that The Music+Sound Awards is the world’s only global awards programme to recognize the role that both music and sound design play in the media, makes this win very special. Even though I don't believe in competing in creativity or art, it's still a recognition of all the hard work we put into this project.
We recently finished working on the second season of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, which premiered on Disney XD on July 31st.
It's with great excitement and joy that I can announce that me and my colleagues have been nominated for an Emmy Award 2017 for the sound work we've done on the LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures TV-series!
The first season has been broadcasted worldwide on DisneyXD during the past few months, and the series has been nominated in 4 categories in total. We've been working very hard and know that people on all levels in this big project has done the same - script writers, producers, animators etc... Big thanks to WilFilm, Lucasfilm and LEGO - it's truly a pleasure working with designing sound worlds and creating foley to complement high quality animation work of this kind, and me and my colleagues are very excited to be on the forefront of what we love doing.
On a more professional note, I'm very excited to currently be working on the forthcoming animated tv-series LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, as part of the sound team at Jelly Animation Sound Studios in Copenhagen.
We're doing foley, sound design and 5.1 mixes for all 13 brand new episodes in collaboration with Lucasfilm and Skywalker Sound in California, and I seriously don't think work can get more fun than this!
The series premieres on Disney XD on June 20th 2016.
