2018 Nominations

I've received a few nominations as a sound designer and foley artist this year as well, which is very humbling! It's quite exciting that some of the work you put down is yet again being recognized on such a high global level.

Outstanding Sound Editing, Animation - for LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (Season 2)

Best Sound Design: TV Programme -
for Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu - The Hands of Time (Season 7)
Best Sound Design: TV Programme - for LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (Season 2)

Artist Selection - 2017 in review

A little late, but still - Home Normal asked some of their artists to mention five releases they've been enjoying in 2017. Head here to check out my list.

From the Home Normal site:
"Tobias Hellkvist had a remarkably busy 2017. He started the year with the Home Normal releases of 'Vesterhavet (Extended)' and 'Kaskelot: Reissue and Remixes'. These were immediately followed by the 3" mini-CD release of '24th Impulse' on ÈTER, his collaboration 'Skimmer' with Ben Fleury-Steiner, and 'Forest Psalms' on Dragon's Eye, all released by April. Tobias was then EMMY nominated for his sound design work for Lego, eventually winning at The Music+Sound Awards."

LEGO Ninjago - The Quiet One (Season 8 story teaser)

It's such a pleasure to work with sound design and foley for this show, which took some big steps forward in this 8th season - better storytelling and character development, even better looking 3D animations etc. And it all takes place in really fun and captivating environments, which makes it so exciting and shifting to work with the Ninjago sound universe.

This coming season is called Sons Of Garmadon, and follows the LEGO Ninjago Movie which premiered last year.

Toby Henny - "Freeze" featured in DC short film

An old song I made about 12 years ago called "Freeze" has been picked up by DC Shoes and put to use as the opening track in this second episode of DC Transistors.

I have a bunch of songs and sketches represented by Marmoset Music in Portland USA, under the moniker Toby Henny. Spanning over many different styles and genres, they're tracks I've made throughout the years aside from my drone/ambient stuff. To check some of them out, go here (tracklist is updated regularly).

Steel: Dragon's Eye Twelfth Anniversary

I have a new track out on this beautiful compilation from Dragon's Eye Recordings, also featuring great artists Steve Pacheco, Geneva Skeen, Robert Crouch, Yann Novak, Jake Muir, Marc Kate, wndfrm and Fabio Perletta.

Remix for Hotel Neon's 'Context: Remixed' album

I'm very happy to have contributed a remix to Hotel Neon's new 'Context: Remixed' album. It was released yesterday and features a great lineup reinterpreting the songs from the groups latest album.

Winner at the Music+Sound Awards 2017!

I'm very excited to be one of the winners in this years Music+Sound Awards, in the category 'Best Sound Design - Television Programme'. This is the first win and second nomination me and my colleagues has received for the work we did on the first season of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, for which we also received an Emmy Award nomination earlier this year.

The fact that The Music+Sound Awards is the world’s only global awards programme to recognize the role that both music and sound design play in the media, makes this win very special. Even though I don't believe in competing in creativity or art, it's still a recognition of all the hard work we put into this project.

We recently finished working on the second season of LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, which premiered on Disney XD on July 31st.
